These are a few pictures of my Spitfire 1500.
The car is an X reg, as can be seen from the pics and according to the heritage certificate ( which I foolishly wasted 30 odd quid on ), was built on 1st August 1980.
It lives in Cannock, Staffordshire and is regularly used both for business and pleasure.

I've had Spitfires on and off for 20 years and I've owned this one since June 2005.

Ian just came across your car on a google search for bonnet struts. i'm after doing the same to my car with out the expense of the £100 from the TSSC. What is the total length of the struts you used, i'ce got some 600mm one and was wondering if they will do the job

I have just fitted two Rover 200 struts to my Spit and have mounted them off the smaller of the two quarter valence fixing brackets, but have had to drill two holes in the wheel arch as the bonnet tries to open too far. Set up is very similar to Ian's though. (Wish I had taken the four ball fittings though as I cant seem to buy them anywhere and have had to use cap head bolts instead). The set up is very good, but gives little/no assistance in lifting the bonnet from horizontal where most of the stress problems are..(I have mounted my struts the other way up though (Does this make a difference)? Would love to hear from others e-mail steve_gort@yahoo.co.uk
